Goessel art and photography teacher Brian Stucky will speak Aug. 10 at a national convention for the Oregon-California Trails Association in Lawrence.

Stucky’s topic will be the Cherokee Trail which began in Arkansas, passed within one mile south of Goessel, joined the Santa Fe Trail two miles south of Galva, and continued west from the Santa Fe Trail, joining the California and Oregon Trails in southwest Wyoming. Land surveyors documented the trail.

Stucky’s presentation will include slides and narration about river crossings, wagon ruts, springs, artifacts, stones and other subtle, but significant trail evidence.
