Students, adults unite to form band

Seven community members and eight high school students joined together as the Hillsboro High School and Community Band for Friday’s county fair parade.

“Thanks to all the musicians for contributing their time, energy, and talent to provide a musical backdrop for the parade,” Hillsboro schools band director Bruce Major said.

Performing from the community were Tim Butler, Steve Hanneman, Brad Just, Shawn Knopp, Randy Stepanek, Gregg Walker, and Joey Walter.

They joined high school students Amanda Bartel, Noah Bartel, Sarah Diener, Abby Driggers, Kayla Gunn, Shelby Johnson, Grace Major, and Ellian Weisbeck.

Jost Fabricating provided a trailer for them to ride on, and Steve and Jeanie Bartel provided a truck to pull the trailer.

Each of the musicians attended an evening rehearsal in addition to performing in the parade.

Major thanked all who supported the band and those along the parade route who showed their appreciation.

“Your support was gratefully noticed,” he said.
