Students of the month chosen

Hillsboro High School students of the month for December are Erich Herbel, Vance Klassen, Savannah Unruh, Jonathan Hinerman, and Riley Loewen.

Erich is involved in Technology Student Association and has competed at the state and national level. He is a member of First Baptist Church and youth group in Durham. He works part-time at Hillsboro True Value and likes going four-wheeling in the snow. He has been accepted by Kansas State University and will major in architectural engineering. DeLayne and Chris Herbel are his parents.

Vance is involved in MBY, FFA, track, has managed volleyball, and was in the fall musical. He enjoys singing, drawing, throwing in track and field events, and weightlifting. He plans to attend a performing arts school but is undecided on a major. Kyle Klassen and Stacy Baker are his parents.

Savannah is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, choir, the musical, and youth group. She works as a baby sitter. She is undecided on post-high school plans. Jennifer Unruh is her mother.

Jonathan runs cross-country and competes in basketball and track. He also is involved in band, chess, scholars’ bowl, youth group, and Technology Student Association. He does yard work to earn spending money. He plans to study engineering after high school. Jerry and Tamara Hinerman are his parents.

Riley is involved in cheerleading, FFA, Leos, student council, EMBY, National Honor Society, the fall musical and spring play, and Spirit-N-Celebration. She enjoys gymnastics and singing, and she baby sits. She plans to attend a four-year college but is otherwise undecided about her plans after high school. Rich and Pam Loewen and Lisa Loewen are her parents.
