Susan Ilene Berry
Susan Ilene Berry, 45, of West Salem, Ohio, passed away surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic. Heaven got a little brighter when Susan went home to walk with the Lord after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 5, 1966, in Kansas City, Kan., the adopted daughter of Milferd Leland and Marilyn Eve Flaming Schmidt.
Susan was a 1985 graduate of Goessel High School, Goessel, and a 1987 graduate of Hesston College. She was employed by her second family at United Titanium in Wooster. She attended the Mohican Church of the Brethren and was an associate member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel, which she grew up in.
Susan enjoyed gardening, tending to her flower beds, arranging flowers, cooking, and spending time with family, especially the kids. She was so proud of her children and had an overwhelming love for them. The highlight of every year was the Wayne County Fair.
She married Bruce Berry on May 9, 1992.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; her parents of Canton; one son, Zachary Berry; one daughter, Jadeyn Berry; two brothers, Loren Schmidt of Canton and Jason Davis of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; and a sister, Anne Burch of Goessel.
Friends were received at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home in Wooster, Ohio, Thursday, March 1.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Mohican Church of the Brethren, West Salem, with Pastor Paul Bartholomew officiating. Burial followed in the Mohican Church Cemetery.
