Hillsboro police narrows scope to find suspect

A Hillsboro woman reported being raped Oct. 6.

She told Hillsboro police she met a man earlier in the evening and invited him to her apartment before he attacked her.

She was transported to Via Christi Hospital in Wichita and physical evidence was collected within 24 hours of the report. DNA evidence was sent to Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Hillsboro police are holding evidence collected at the scene of the crime until they identify the suspect.

Chief Dan Kinning said police have leads on the suspect. Based on interviews with the victim and evidence, police believe the suspect is a Hillsboro man, Kinning said.
