Swimming team expanding to 4 districts

Staff writer

Centre superintendent Larry Geist reported at Monday’s board meeting that Hillsboro and Peabody had joined Marion and Centre in what has become a nearly countywide swim team.

Costs of a coach and assistant coach will be split between the four districts, Geist said. Kim Smith will transport Centre’s swim team members to Marion.

A day before a power failure forced cancellation of classes Tuesday, board members also were told that a former Lost Springs Elementary School bell was being donated to the Centre district by Lost Springs. It will be placed at the football field.

Board members also heard that Diepenbrock Farms has donated a beef.

The board accepted Karen Nickel’s resignations from all supplemental positions.

A contract with Trevor Siebert to continue as principal for sixth through 12th was extended through the 2024-’25 school year.

In other personnel matters:

  • Angela Basore was hired to transport golf players to Marion.
  • Dawson Raymer will be junior high and high school assistant track coach.
  • Jimmy Shipman will be assistant golf coach.
  • Randy Carlson was hired as a district para-educator.
