The Tabor College men’s basketball team ended a two-game conference losing streak Thursday with a victory against Bethany College, and started a new winning streak Saturday by defeating McPherson College.
The Bluejays victories improved their league record to 6-4 and are now 11-8 overall.
Damon Dechant led eight Tabor scorers against Bethany with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Zack Vanselow added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Orson Thomas, Kyle Kroeker, and Mike Rousell each had seven points.
Tabor built a 35-28 halftime-lead and eventually won 66-54, against the 6-14 Sweeds.
For the game, the Bluejays shot 42.6 percent compared to 30 percent for Bethany.
In Saturday’s contest against McPherson, Tabor seemed to be in control early, leading 38-22 at the half.
However, the Bulldogs put up 43 second-half points to cut the lead, but eventually fell to the Bluejays, 71-65.
Vanselow was the leading-scorer for Tabor with a game-high 23 points while chipping-in seven rebounds.
Kroeker added 15 points, going 3-for-6 behind the three-point line.
Dechant had nine points and eight rebounds.
Tabor finds itself alone in fifth place in the KCAC with the 6-4 record, two games behind front-runner Sterling.
The ’Jays have eight games left starting with a Thursday road game at Winfield against 10-10 Southwestern.
