Tabor College Alumni Association hosts poet

The Tabor College Alumni Association and English Department will host a poetry reading and book signing by renowned Mennonite author and poet Jean Janzen of Fresno, Calif., at 4 p.m. Thursday, at Little Pleasures coffee shop, 119 N. Main Street, Hillsboro.

Janzen also will present the poem she had created especially for the 100th anniversary celebration of the college during the Centennial Homecoming Festival Dinner at 6:30 p.m., Friday at the Wichita Broadview Hotel.

Janzen, who holds a master’s degree in creative writing and English from California State University, was a student at Tabor College and graduated from Fresno Pacific University. She also taught poetry and poetry writing at Fresno Pacific University and Eastern Mennonite University.

Janzen’s new book of poems, “Paper House,” published by Good Books, is her seventh collection. A book of essays, “Fundamentals of Faithful Writing,” also is available from Pandora Press.
