Tabor College choir prepares for spring tour

Tabor College Concert Choir will perform 10 concerts beginning Thursday and ending March 27 on its spring tour of Kansas, Colorado, and California.

Under the direction of Dr. Bradley D. Vogel, professor of choral music, the tour beings with two performances in Western Kansas. The first concert will be at Thursday evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, followed the next evening at North Oak Community Church in Hays.

The choir then travels to Garden Park Mennonite Brethren Church in Denver Saturday for a performance.

The concert, entitled “The Aroma of Christ,” is based on 2 Corinthians 2:15 and explores the themes of Christ in the world, Christ in us, and with Christ in eternity.

After two travel days, the choir performs Monday at Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church in Shafter, Calif. Other performances will be Tuesday at Immanuel High School in Reedley, Calif., and an evening performance at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church.

On March 25, the choral group will sing at Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in Fresno, followed by an evening concert at North Fresno Mennonite Brethren Church.

Another concert March 26 in Clovis, Calif., will follow with an evening concert at College Community Church. The tour ends March 27 with an evening concert at Lincoln Glen Church in San Jose.

Upon its return to Hillsboro, the choir will perform at 7 p.m. May 10 in the chapel auditorium. The concert will feature the premiere of the cantata, “Sun, Moon and Stars,” written for the 100th anniversary of Tabor College by composer and pianist Dr. Larry Warkentin of Fresno.
