Tabor enrollment surpasses last year's numbers

For the third consecutive year, Tabor College has seen an increase in the fall enrollment.

There are 669 pursuing degrees in all student programs — graduate and undergraduate.

There were 618 students enrolled in 2009, indicating an overall increase of 4.5 percent.

The Hillsboro campus included 557 students, the largest enrollment for the Marion County campus since 1974. There were 519 last year.

The incoming freshman class has 153 students, the largest since 1988. There was a 29 percent increase of female freshman students from 55 in 2009 to 71 in 2010. Another positive addition to the campus was 68 new transfer students — the most in the college’s history — who are attending classed in Hillsboro.

“We have not had more than two years of sustained growth for over 40 years,” President Jules Glanzer said. “Now we have broken that trend, following this year’s record enrollment.”
