Tabor football team wins opener on road

The 17th-ranked Tabor College football team won its season opener Saturday against Nebraska Wesleyan, 10-9.

The Bluejays’ home opener comes against MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday as part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference’s football agreement with the Heart of America Conference.

Volleyball notches first conference win

Tabor College’s volleyball team won the first match of its conference schedule last Wednesday, defeating Southwestern 3-0.

At the Evangel tournament Saturday in Springfield, Mo., the Bluejays went 2-1, improving to 6-2 on the season. They beat William Woods University and College of the Ozarks, but lost to Evangel.

Tonight the Lady Jays travel to North Newton to take on the Bethel Threshers in KCAC play.

Friday and Saturday the team will play Wayland Baptist University, John Brown University, the University of St. Thomas, and St. Gregory’s University in the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational in Salina

Soccer teams travel to Manhattan, Oklahoma

The men’s team won its first two games of the season on the road against Manhattan Christian College, 1-0, then 2-1 at St. Gregory’s University.

The women’s team’s game against Manhattan Christian was canceled. At St. Gregory’s University Saturday, the Lady Jays lost 2-3.

The Bluejays play tonight against Avila University in Kansas City, and then host York College Friday in Hillsboro. The teams travel to McPherson Sept. 18 to play Central Christian.

Cross-country teams place second

The men and women’s teams both finished second out of five teams Saturday at the JK Gold Classic in Augusta.

Upcoming

The Bluejays travel to Joplin, Mo., for the Missouri Southern Stampede Sept. 21.
