Tabor hires academic chief

Frank E. Johnson will assume duties as chief academic officer at Tabor College beginning July 1.

Tabor College President Jules Glanzer made the announcement following a national search. For the past five years, the position was held by Lawrence Ressler, who resigned to take a position at Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

Johnson, who earned a doctorate in U.S. history at Michigan State University, brings 15 years of teaching and administrative experience in Christian higher education. He serves on the Accreditation Review Council of the Higher Learning Commission and has participated in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities Leadership Development Institute.

He has been employed by Goshen (Ind.) College as special assistant to the president for institutional planning, strategy, and research and as professor of history. Prior to his tenure at Goshen, he taught history at Mid America Nazarene University in Olathe and served in administrative positions at Sterling College and Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
