Tabor College announced Thursday that it has hired Eric Schwab as the new cross-country coach and assistant track coach. He has been the head cross-country and track and field coach at Fresno Pacific University for the past 20 years.
He is a native of Nowata, Okla., and graduated in 1989 from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, with a degree in business administration and physical education. During college he competed in track and swim, and finished 12th in the marathon at the 1989 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Track and Field Championship.
He received a master’s degree in physical education in 1991 from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif. He served as the women’s cross-country coach for two years and as an assistant track and field coach for four years at Azusa Pacific.
He was named Golden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1996, 2001, 2003 through 2005, and 2007 through 2011. He has coached 62 NAIA all-Americans in track and field and cross-country, 19 NAIA national champions in track and field, and 79 NAIA scholar athletes, among other accolades.
