Tabor soccer teams win openers

The Tabor men’s and women’s soccer teams won their only game of the week Saturday, defeating the University of Saint Mary.

The men’s team won 5-2 on goals from Adam Morley, Alberto Checa, Brandon Felty, and Philipp Wahl. Checa scored twice.

The women’s team defeated the Spires 2-1 in a more closely contested game.

Jessica Renzelman scored twice for the Bluejays, with goalie Amber Mayer recording three saves.

Upcoming

Both teams travel to Sterling College today. The women play at 2 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.

Volleyball team loses to Friends

Going into their game against Friends University last week, the Lady Jays were tied with the Falcons for second place in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, but fell behind after a three-set loss. All three games were decided by five points or less, at 25-27, 20-25, and 21-25.

At home against Sterling, the Bluejays won three sets to one, improving to 14-5 on the season.

Upcoming

The Bluejays play Bethany College at 7 p.m. tonight in Hillsboro, then travel to Winfield for a 7 p.m. matchup with Southwestern College Saturday.

Other sports

The Cross-country teams will compete in the NAIA Nationals Preview at 9 a.m. Saturday in Lawrence.
