Tabor string ensemble to perform

Home concerts are April 29 and May 1

A string ensemble is the newest addition to the music department at Tabor College. It will be going on tour next week with the Tabor College Symphonic Band and other instrumental ensembles.

“To my knowledge, this will be the first time the string ensemble has gone on tour,” director Daniel Baldwin said. “I am incredibly pleased with this and look forward to starting a tradition and building a fine strings program.”

Baldwin is an associate professor of instrumental music at Tabor.

The tour includes performances at Community Bible Church in Mountain Lake, Minn., Bethesda M.B. Church and James Valley Christian School in Huron, S.D.; Freeman Academy in Freeman, S.D., and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.

On April 24, the group will be at the University of Nebraska for master classes with the university’s instrumental instructors.

After they return, the band will present a home concert on April 29. The ensembles will perform May 1.
