Women nearly score 90 in TCC victory
A victory and a loss this past week at the Tabor College Classic left the Lady Bluejays with a 3-10 record.
In the opening-round Friday against Benedictine College, Andrea Robinson had 18 points and 10 rebounds, but the Lady ’Jays fell, 70-60.
Stephanie Silvas also was in double figures with 12 points, while Brittany Roth and Jordon Crosson each had six rebounds.
Tabor trailed by 14 at the break and battled back twice to cut the lead to four, before the Lady Ravens pulled away.
It was a different story Saturday as Tabor used a 20-point halftime lead to defeat Ecclesia College (Springfield, Ark.), 87-49.
Robinson was in double figures again with 15, but it was Kristen Watson who had a game-high 18 points and eight rebounds.
Crosson and Gina Hullet each had nine points.
The Lady ’Jays scorched the nets with 50 percent shooting overall and connected on 40 percent of the three-point attempts.
“We were very pleased with both games this weekend,” said head coach Shawn Winter. “With the exception of an eight-minute stretch in the first half of Friday’s game, we played some of our best basketball of the season.”
The team is now 1-3 in the KCAC, and will be on the court Thursday for a home game against University of St. Mary, and on the road Friday at Bethel College.
