Tabor to present Renaissance opera, feast
A “Royal Feaste,” a re-imagined version of a 1607 festival feast including a three-course meal and Claudio Monteverdi’s operatic “La favola d’Orfeo,” is planned for April 16 at Tabor College.
Tickets cost $10 and are available online at http://tabor.edu/tickets.
The cast will include students Jenna Bloomer, Katherine Coleman, Kelsey Huxman, Nathan Kemling, Caitlyn Rohaus, Jordan Roth, Winter Waple and Keaton Williamson.
Faculty members Jen Stephenson will direct and J. Bradley Baker will conduct.
Miss Kansas, student Hannah Klaassen, will make an appearance.
Monteverdi was court composer for the Duke and Duchess Gonzaga at Mantua in what is now Italy.
His short musical drama tells of Orpheus and Eurydice from Greek mythology. The piece is to be presented in its original format.
