Tabor College theatre department has begun rehearsals for “Proof,” which will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 2 to 5.
The drama is about the intellectual and emotional struggles of a brilliant math professor’s daughter who, after her father’s death, must use her own genius to prove the authenticity of his work.
“’Proof’ is a great story, filled with tension but not without humor,” director Laurel Koerner said. “It raises some questions about mental illness and heredity.”
Molly Wiebe will play lead character Catherine.
“We are trying to portray real people going through real problems,” she said. “The more time we spend on a scene the more our brain wheels begin to turn, and suddenly we are making discoveries and things are clicking.”
Other cast members are Reuven Isaac, Alisa Ediger, and Benjamin Loewen.
The David Auburn play won a Pulitzer prize for drama and Tony award for best play in 2001.
Tickets are on sale and can be reserved by calling the Student Life Office at (620) 947-3121 ext. 1033 or e-mailing email@example.com. Tickets also will be available at the door.
