Tabor women 3-1 on the week

With victories against Southwestern, McPherson, and York (Neb.) colleges, the Tabor College volleyball team won three of four matches it played this past week.

The women began the week with a victory Sept. 30 against KCAC opponent Southwestern.

The Bluejays swept the Builders 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.

TC had a season-high 40 kills including 11 from Ashley Cohlmia, eight from Jordan Crosson, and seven from Gina Hullett.

Audrey Schellenberg had a season-high 26 assists, and Cohlmia recorded a season-high five aces.

The winning streak continued Thursday as Tabor knocked off McPherson 25-14, 25-17, 25-21.

It was the fourth straight league victory after two losses for the women.

Carly Kroeker led Tabor with 10 kills.

The Bluejays then took KCAC rival Kansas Wesleyan to the brink Saturday at Salina, but fell in five games 25-21, 20-25, 25-27, 25-12, 13-15.

Tabor would avenge the loss later in the triangular against York College 25-15, 25-16, 25-23.

“We played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and it showed in our ability to hit the ball well,” TC head coach Amy Ratzlaff said.

The Bluejays played host Tuesday to Friends University.
