Sunflower Senior Citizens met May 11 for the monthly potluck and meeting. Paul Jantzen of Hillsboro provided a slide program about the prairie. Magdalen Dvorak and Jane Vajnar were hosts. Others in attendance were Elaine Jantzen, Adeline Bernhardt, Tom and Dee Duggan, Mary Clemmer, Leona Kleiber, Frank Patton, and Shirley Zaideman.

Andrea Klenda visited her grandmother Leona Kleiber on May 11.

Lori Moldenhauer and Greg Stenzel were in Manhattan on May 11 to help their daughter Nikki move.

Guests of Terry and Cindy Vinduska for a Mother’s Day barbecue were Leona Kleiber; Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nick of Salina; and Dean and Becky Routh, Allison, Melody, and Danielle of Augusta.

Mother’s Day dinner guests of Russ and Julie Kerbs and Rustyn were Lucille Kerbs and Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney. In the afternoon, they went to St. Luke Living Center in Marion to visit Agnes Bina, Jan Smith, and other residents.

Adeline Bernhardt went to Wichita May 9 and attended Trinity Lutheran Church services with Barney and Linda Bernhardt. They ate dinner out with Carl and Kathy Hubbard of Wellington; and Clint Hubbard and John and Debra Haynes, Hailee, and Heather of Wichita. Adeline returned home May 10.

Dolores Scott of Emporia, Pamela Fillmore of Cottonwood Falls, Debra Dody of Branson, Mo., and Rebecca Nottingham and Emily of Ozawkie brought dinner to Tillie Hein May 9 and spent the day with her in celebration of Mother’s Day.

Glenn Kerbs called his mother Lucille Kerbs on May 9 to wish her a happy Mother’s Day. She received other phone calls, cards, and gifts.

Eating Mother’s Day dinner in Wichita were Tom and Bev Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Paul and Edna Backhus, Brad Backhus, and Jason Backhus.

Guests of Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna for a barbecue on Mother’s Day were Frank and Anna Mae Stika and Lori Moldenhauer and Nikki.

Dale Clemmer spent Mother’s Day with his mother Mary Clemmer and took her to Emporia to visit Adeline Wood, Mary’s oldest sister and “other mother.”

Tampa residents attended the wedding of Shaina Makovec and Cody Schafer on May 8 at Pilsen with a reception, dinner, and dance following at Herington Community Center.

Lynn and Peggy Kleiber of Salina were overnight guests May 8 of his mother Leona Kleiber.

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson, Allison, and Taylor May 8 in Abilene. Other visitors were Tim and Marchelle Kerbs of Salina. They ate dinner out as an early celebration of Mother’s Day.

Nikki Stenzel and her friend Mark of Manhattan arrived May 8 to attend the Makovec-Schafer wedding reception. Nikki was an overnight guest of her mother Lori Moldenhauer and celebrated Mother’s Day with her family.

Cindy Vinduska of Marion visited her mother, Leona Kleiber, on May 7 after school.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League met May 5 at the church with Becky Davis as host. Joyce Medley led opening and closing devotion and the Rev. Clark Davis spoke. Others in attendance were Kathy Davis, Adeline Bernhardt, Leona Kleiber, Janet Bielefeld, Michele Berens, and Edna Backhus.

Lori Moldenhauer and Frank and Anna Mae Stika visited Nikki Stenzel on May 6 in Manhattan. Nikki’s friend Mark joined them for supper.

Mel Epling repaired Mary Clemmer’s lawn mower, putting it in working order, of which Mary is grateful.

Dale and Andrea Klenda were hosts of a birthday party and barbecue supper April 25 in celebration of their son Elijah’s second birthday. Guests included Leona Kleiber, Dennis and Terry Klenda and Tyler, Lynn and Peggy Kleiber and Nick of Salina, and Tim and Amanda Baxa of Kansas City.
