Tampa community members cheered on Centre, Hope, and Hillsboro high school girls’ basketball teams competing in state tournaments this week.

Members of the Red Hat Society enjoyed their own games after dinner and a meeting at Hilltop Community Center in Herington. Barbara Askew hosted the meeting for those in attendance — Joyce Cox and Dixie Kracke of Abilene, Rhea Kolling, Rose Mary Deines, Karolyn Schlesener and Helen Sorenson of Herington, Anita Hummel and Betty Schlesener of Hope, Adeline Bernhardt and Dee Duggan.

Helen Costello passed away recently. She formerly taught at the old Tampa High School before moving to Mulvane and Derby.

Becky Routh, Melody Routh, and Allison Routh spent March 6 with Leona Kleiber. Adeline Bernhardt visited her in the afternoon of the same day.

Vernon Stika passed away and many from the community attended visitation with the family March 6 at Zeiner Funeral Home and a graveside service March 7.

The annual Thrivent member awareness dinner took place March 5 at Trinity Parish Hall in Ramona. St. John’s members attending included Pastor Clark and Kathy Davis, Joyce Medley, Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, Betty Mueller, David Mueller, Raymond and Janet Bielefeld and Michele Berens. Marissa Makovec catered the dinner.

The Holy Redeemer Alter Society served a meal for the annual Agri-Producers stockholders meeting March 2 at the senior center in Tampa.

State Representative Barker met constituents March 2 at the Tampa Trail Stop. Citizens attending included David Mueller, Raymond Bielefeld, Leo Yanda, Gary and Carole Spohn, and Tom and Dee Duggan.

Lucille Kerbs visited Connie Thompson and Taylor March 2 in Abilene. They joined Jeremy and Allison Sluder and Brooklyn, and Clayton and Leah Kerbs and Porter for dinner.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Paulette Zook of Florence March 8 in Hillsboro to attend the Lifelong Learning program at Tabor College. Harland Schuster, the photographer for “Eight Wonders of Kansas Guidebook,” presented the program.

Andrea Klenda, Elijah, Evan, and Silas, spent March 2 with Leona Kleiber. Dale Klenda also stopped by for a visit.

Jane Vajnar visited Lucille Kerbs March 8.
