Team finishes season at state

A local traveling team of 14-year-olds, Battle Baseball, finished its season July 13 and 14 at the National Baseball Congress state tournament in Hayes.

Team players were from Hillsboro, Herington, Peabody, and Marion.

Despite not playing their best at state and finishing tied for ninth out of 20 teams, the team had success during the regular season.

It placed first two times, runner-up once, and third place five times, completing its season 21-10.

Regular season began in April, with eight weekends of games in cities across Kansas.
