Tennis team plays shorthanded
It was a team of one that served as host to the Hillsboro Invitational tournament on Friday.
Dakota Klein was the sole Trojans entry, as his teammates were attending a quadrennial national youth conference.
Klein played in the No. 2 singles slot, dropping matches to Brian Walker of Sterling, Colin Henderson of Chapman, and Rayne Schmidtberger of Sacred Heart.
All five players traveled April 7 to Sterling for the Smoky Valley tournament.
Klein paired with Josh Funk in doubles, winning two games in match losses to Hesston, Wichita Collegiate, and Pratt.
Jacob Issac and Brandon Wiebe fared slightly better, winning two games in a loss to Pratt and one in a loss to Smoky Valley. The pair was blanked by a second Smoky Valley team.
