Tampa City Council

Trail Stop gets beer license

Contributing writer

Tampa City Council approved a cereal malt beverage license request from David Mueller for the Trail Stop on Sept. 10. The license will allow the store to sell beer, as long as it no more than 3.2 percent alcohol by weight.

Marion County Commission Chairman Dan Holub told the council that the four miles of 330th Road west of Tampa will be finished with center and side stripes before winter. The four miles of Limestone Road south of Tampa will be chip-sealed in the spring.

Mayor Tim Svoboda told the council that new street signs, posts, and caps have been ordered. The posts are 12 feet long, and four feet will be underground.

Don Zaideman presented a plan to turn the ball diamond so home plate is in the southwest corner, so balls hit over the fence wouldn’t go toward his and other houses on Lincoln Street. Zaideman said he didn’t think the change would be very expensive.

“I’ve talked to many people in the community, and I haven’t heard one positive thing about moving it,” Russ Kerbs said.

Ty Peterson said he talked to people using a golf course next to homes in Wichita and learned that any golfer causing damage to those homes is liable for the damage. He suggested Zaideman could report damage to the sheriff and get compensation from whoever hit the ball.
