Brett Mueller, Josh Richert, and Dylan Hill medaled for the Hillsboro High School cross-country team Thursday at Berean Academy.
Mueller placed fourth with a time of 17 minutes, 5.2 seconds, Richert placed 11th with a time of 17:32.2, and Hill placed 19th with a time of 18:19.6
“Bret and Dylan ran outstanding races,” head coach Stuart Holmes said. “In spite of windy and warm conditions they both really persevered in the middle part of the race to post impressive results.”
Daniel Gray finished 30th with a time of 19:12.1.
The Hillsboro girls team posted two top-10 finishers with Emily Sechrist at third, 16:00.4, and Karyn Leihy at eighth, 17:14.4.
The meet at Berean was the first time all five Trojans competed on the varsity team. They finished fifth, with only 8 points separating them from third place.
Samantha Ens placed 34th, 20:36.6; Erin Wiebe placed 37th, 21:01; and Amy Bartel placed 43rd, 21:27.
Hillsboro’s next meet is Thursday at Sterling.
