Trojan golf team finishes ninth at state

The Hillsboro High School golf team wrapped up its season Monday, competing at the Class 2A state championship at Pittsburg’s Crestview Country Club.

Out of the 12 schools with enough players for a team score, the Trojans finished 9th with a 395.

With three finishers in the top four and four in the top six, Sacred Heart cruised to the state championship 57 strokes better than runner-up Pittsburg-Colgan.

Playing his final game at the high school level, Colin Settle shot a 94 to post the Trojans’ best finish at 37th out of 88 competitors.

Fellow senior Elliot Ollenburger closed out a tremendous career, coming in two spots behind at 39th with a 96.

Elias Werth wrapped up his career by taking 56th with a 100.

Juniors Avery Unruh and Joe Knoll finished 64th and 65th, respectively, with a 105.

Rounding out the competition for the Trojans was junior Darian Ratzlaff at 74th with a 115.
