The Hillsboro Trojans cross-country team competed in their first meet of the year Thursday at Smoky Valley logging some hardware for notable achievements.
Abigail Driggers placed eighth among freshman and sophomore girls with a time of 23 minutes, 22 seconds, which was a new school record, according to coach Robert Haude.
Boys’ runner Jonathan Hinerman took third among junior and senior boys with a time of 17:32.
“It was a great first meet for our team,” Haude said. “Jonathon and Abby both ran strong races. I am very proud of all our kids.”
The boys’ team placed fifth out of five teams. Caleb Rempel placed 19th individually at 20:59 and Tucker Moss placed 21st at 21:51 for the boys’ team.
Millie Sechrist was 16th at 27:41 among freshman and sophomore girls.
