Trojan teams still alive for postseason
Hillsboro baseball, softball teams pass first round tests
Postseason hopes remained realistic for the Hillsboro baseball and softball teams Monday with both passing first round tests of the Lyons’ and Canton-Galva regionals.
After a 12-0 shutout of the Minneapolis Lions in Hillsboro, the fourth-seed Trojans baseball team will face top-seeded Marion today at 2 p.m. in Lyons.
The Warriors knocked out the regional host Lions, 10-3.
In softball action, the 10-10 Trojans made short work of the hosting Eagles, cruising to a 12-2 victory.
The victory advanced fourth-seed Hillsboro to the semifinals to meet top-seed Marion, who received a first round bye in the six-team field.
