Trojan tennis tries new lineup
The Hillsboro High School tennis team changed its lineup Thursday for the Sterling tennis meet.
Harry Faber played as the Trojans No. 1 singles player. He placed third out of four players.
“Harry was in three really good matches that were played at a solid level of tennis,” coach Stuart Holmes said.
Sophomore Jeff Pritchard played as the Trojans No. 2 singles player.
Hillsboro’s usual singles players, Jarod Hamm and Grant Shewey, played as the No. 1 doubles team. They finished third. “Grant and Jarod are having very successful seasons as singles players and will finish the season in singles,” Holmes said.
The Trojans’ No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Funk and Nodari Lomidze lost three matches.
Circle
The Trojans also competed in a meet April 14 at Circle.
Shewey won both of his matches as a No. 1 singles player.
Hamm won his first match in the No. 2 singles bracket. He was winning a match over Lukas Weber of Circle, when the meet was stopped because of rain.
The No. 1 doubles team of Harry Faber and Daniel Gray lost two matches, but they defeated Brian Kessler and Tony Treweeke of Circle, 8-6.
Hillsboro’s No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Funk and Jeff Pritchard lost both matches.
The team played Tuesday at Hesston and will play Monday in Hesston.
