Trojan tennis tries new lineup

The Hillsboro High School tennis team changed its lineup Thursday for the Sterling tennis meet.

Harry Faber played as the Trojans No. 1 singles player. He placed third out of four players.

“Harry was in three really good matches that were played at a solid level of tennis,” coach Stuart Holmes said.

Sophomore Jeff Pritchard played as the Trojans No. 2 singles player.

Hillsboro’s usual singles players, Jarod Hamm and Grant Shewey, played as the No. 1 doubles team. They finished third. “Grant and Jarod are having very successful seasons as singles players and will finish the season in singles,” Holmes said.

The Trojans’ No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Funk and Nodari Lomidze lost three matches.

The Trojans also competed in a meet April 14 at Circle.

Shewey won both of his matches as a No. 1 singles player.

Hamm won his first match in the No. 2 singles bracket. He was winning a match over Lukas Weber of Circle, when the meet was stopped because of rain.

The No. 1 doubles team of Harry Faber and Daniel Gray lost two matches, but they defeated Brian Kessler and Tony Treweeke of Circle, 8-6.

Hillsboro’s No. 2 doubles team of Tyler Funk and Jeff Pritchard lost both matches.
