Trojan wrestlers 4th

Championships by Tristan Rathbone and Lane Rogers helped lead Hillsboro to fourth place overall in the 10-team Central Kansas League wrestling tournament Thursday in Hillsboro.

“It was awesome seeing all three of our seniors that competed earn spots on the podium by placing in the top three in their weight class,” coach Scott O’Hare said.

Senior Tristan Rathbone, who won the 170-pound class, has placed in the top two in every tournament this season.

He and Garrett Helmer continue to add their names to Hillsboro record books with Helmer surpassing 100 career victories and Rathbone breaking the record for the most pins in a single season.

Hillsboro will be host for the Class 3-2-1A regional tournament starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robert C. Brown Gymnasium.

The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to state championships Feb. 25 and 26 in Hays.
