The Hillsboro High School softball team’s undefeated season ended Tuesday night in Hillsboro with a 15-5 loss to Haven in the first game in six innings.
The Trojans showed their resolve and won the second game 13-12 in eight innings. The Trojans overcame deficits in four separate innings: down 6-5 in the fifth, 7-6 in the sixth, 10-8 in the seventh, and 12-10 after the top of the eighth inning. Hillsboro loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth and Tena Loewen hit a two-RBI single, scoring Courtney Weber and Amy Bartel. A walk to Sammy Koons with the bases loaded scored Tara Heinrichs to win the game.
Baseball
The Hillsboro High School baseball team won both games against Haven.
Jacob Edwards threw his second no-hitter of the season, although the Wildcats scored an unearned run on an error. Of the 21 outs Edwards earned, 18 Wildcat batters succumbed to the strikeout. The Trojans won the game, 5-1.
Dylan Delk threw six innings for Hillsboro in the second game, good enough to lead the Trojans to a 7-1 victory.
