Trojans come up short

Bluebirds win

The Trojan boys basketball season came to an end Tuesday night in the opening round of the Halstead sub-state with the Dragons topping host Hillsboro, 48-43.

The Dragons, behind a game-high 26 points from Simon McKee, lead from the start despite Hillsboro tying twice.

Hillsboro had a team-high 14 points from senior Jerod Hamm in his final game and freshman Christian Ratzlaff added 10.

The Trojans shot less than 40 percent from the floor and allowed Halstead 41 percent.

Hillsboro ends the season at 11-10.

The Goessel boys team defeated Burrton, 52-43. They will play Pretty Prairie at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Burrton.
