Trojans cross state race finish line

Staff writer

Trojans cross-country runners Jonathan Hinerman and Abby Driggers each competed against about 100 other runners in their respective races Saturday at the 2A state race in Wamego.

Coach Stuart Holmes said both runners ran determined races during their first state appearance.

“With the rain the day before, the course was soft and slower, but they still has some of their better times of the year, which is good on such a hilly, soft course,” Holmes said.

Hinerman missed medaling by nine places, finishing 29th of 102 runners at 18 minutes, 24 seconds, while Driggers was 63rd of 100 runners at 24:01.

“They both should feel good about being able to finish their season at the state meet, and will hopefully use this year as motivation to increase their dedication and training even more next season,” Holmes said.
