The Hillsboro High School boys’ basketball team wrapped up the Cardinal Classic Saturday at Cheney, topping Clearwater 69-49 in the third place game.
The victory leaves the Trojans 2-2 on the season after posting a 2-1 finish through the Classic.
Hillsboro jumped out to a 20-12 lead after the first quarter Saturday, getting a balanced scoring output, which saw three Trojans finish in double figures.
David Loewen had a game-high 17 points, Daniel Jost, 14, and Clay Shewey added 11.
The Trojans led 38-25 at halftime, and Clearwater never really posed any threat.
On Friday against the hosting Cardinals, a strong second half by Cheney proved to be the deciding factor as the Trojans stumbled, 51-45.
Hillsboro led 8-7 after the first quarter and 28-26 at halftime before Cheney turned the tide.
Loewen was the only Trojan in double figures as Hillsboro was ice-cold from three-point range.
The Trojans wrap up the year Friday, traveling to Sterling for a tip-off schedule for 8 p.m.
