Hillsboro wrestlers Levi Mendoza and Nathan Simhiser picked up second-place finishes Saturday at Lyons; however, Coach Scott O’Hare shouldered responsibility for an otherwise lackluster performance.

“I did not have these guys properly prepared to compete this week,” O’Hare said. “Although a few of the guys did some nice things and looked good at times, overall, this was a disappointing day. ”

The team was also without several wrestlers due to illness.

The regional tournament in Russell is less than two weeks away, and O’Hare will make some changes to prepare his wrestlers to qualify for state.

“We plan to switch a few things up to hopefully help these guys focus on what they have put the work in for over the past three months,” O’Hare said. “I’m hoping this was a one week letdown, and that we will recover quickly.”
