Two-day celebration planned
in Chase County

The Chase County Chamber of Commerce‘s annual “A Chase County Country Christmas” will include holiday activites Friday and Saturday in Cottonwood Falls and Strong City.

 At 6 p.m. Friday, events will begin with lighting of an antique caboose near the Strong City depot, followed by a free showing of the movie, “Rudolph,” along with activities and prizes for all ages at the historic 1900 Uptown Theater, two blocks north of the caboose.

 Events on Saturday will include an arts and crafts fair with more than 30 vendors at St. Anthony’s Hall in Strong City.

Harshman Creek Boutique at 306 Broadway in Cottonwood Falls will feature brunch.

A Prairie Past Times Christmas open house with artist demonstrations and giveaways is planned at 220½ Broadway in Cottonwood Falls. 

There will also be an old-school silent auction, Christmas tree and decor sale with live music at Old School Community Center, 518 3rd St. in Cottonwood Falls. 

Santa’s reindeer will be on the lawn of the Chase County Courthouse from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and Santa will be inside.

Announcement of the winners of silent auction items and in-store drawings will be at 5:50 p.m., just before lighting of the historic Chase County courthouse at 6 p.m. in Cottonwood Falls.

Country Christmas Parade will begin west of the courthouse and proceed north on Broadway, ushering Santa to the North Pole at 6:05 p.m.

 Silent auction items may be picked up at the Old School Community Center, 518 3rd St. from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Duirng the day, many businesses will serve refreshments and have in-store drawings for prizes.
