USD 410 school board approves $54,900 bid for new activity bus
In Monday’s USD 410 school board meeting, members approved a $54,900 bid for a 2004 Blue Bird LTC-40 rear engine 53-passenger activity bus from Internet company Buses for Sale, contingent upon visual inspection.
“It’s a coach bus on the bus frames we have out here with a big diesel motor, so it’s going to get us around,” superintendent Max Heinrichs said. “I told him we’d have to see it before we accept the offer.”
Heinrichs and maintenance director Keith Goossen will travel down to Little Rock, Arkansas on Wednesday to meet with the bus seller on Thursday, and if they like it, they will approve the bid.
The bus will be used for various activities in the school, specifically for sports travel.
Heinrichs said that Goossen will look for certain things while examining the bus, including looking for flooding.
One board member asked Heinrichs if they would be taking a check with them to Arkansas.
“We would have it here, and we would say deliver it,” Heinrichs said. “We want to drive it, and we’ve talked to him about that. We’re not just going to go there and walk around it once.”
