USD 411 prepares move to new addition

Staff writer

If all goes according plan, Goessel students will attend classes in the USD 411’s new addition as soon as Tuesday.

At Monday’s board of education meeting, members learned the building needs to pass a fire inspection before staff and students can move in.

“The fire marshall has already examined all the blue prints and engineering,” Superintendent John Fast said. “Now, he just needs to do a visual inspection on site to make sure the building matches the schematics.”

Fast said the inspection is scheduled for today or Thursday. “As long as we don’t hit any bumps in the road, staff will be able to move in on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and we should be able to start having class in there as soon as the instructors feel ready, probably already on Tuesday.”

To mark the milestone in USD 411’s history, Loyd Builders will have a pizza party for the school Jan. 21, Fast said. “Students will eat their pizza in the classrooms as part of the occasion,” he said. “We have lots to look forward to.”
