Goessel Junior/Senior High School and fifth-grade music students will have their annual community barbecue and concert May 3 at Goessel High School.
The meal, served to over 400 people each year, includes pork burgers, baked beans, carrots, chips, and cookies. Band and choir members will begin serving at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the concert will begin at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium.
There is no charge for the event, but donations are accepted to help send music students to out-of-state music festivals. Community members and businesses donated all supplies for the barbeque dinner.
The concert will showcase the fifth grade band, junior high band, high school band, junior high choir, high school men’s chorus, high school women’s chorus, high school choir, Elbiata Singers, and joint junior high and high school performances. Concert selections include numbers performed at music festivals this spring. Robert Tierney directs the bands and Renae Schmidt Peters directs the choirs, accompanied by Marcia Brubaker.
