Tabor College’s Shari Flaming Center for the Arts will be the site of this year’s county health fair Nov. 4.

Flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines will be available as well as discounted blood tests.

Regular and high-dose flu shots for people 65 and older and updated Moderna COVID vaccinations for people 12 and older will be available.

People getting flu shots should bring insurance cards if they have them. The health department will bill most insurance or accept cash or checks.

The fair will offer discounted lab tests, which cost $25 for four tests, with two additional tests available for $10 each.

The four tests available for $25 include comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, complete blood count with differential, and thyroid stimulating hormone test.

• A comprehensive metabolic panel tests metabolism, including kidneys, liver, electrolyte and acid/base balance, glucose, and blood protein levels. It is used to monitor hypertension and other medical conditions and check for side effects of medications.
• A lipid panel test checks total cholesterol levels, including high-density and low-density lipoproteins, cholesterol, and triglycerides. The test reveals risks for heart disease.
• A complete blood count with differentials checks levels of red blood cells, platelets, white blood cells, hematocrit, and hemoglobin. It screens for anemia and can detect infections.
• A thyroid-stimulating hormone test screens for overactive or underactive thyroid.

Additional tests for $10 each include hemoglobin A1c tests, which measure average glucose levels over the last three months, and protein specific antigen tests, which screen for prostate cancer.

In addition to blood tests and vaccinations, more than 20 vendor displays will be set up. Each will offer a prize drawing.

Adrienne’s Coffee Shop inside the Center for the Arts is offering $1 off for people who get laboratory services or vaccinations.
