Familiarizing children ages 6 months to 36 months with water will be the topic of two classes July 16 through 19 and July 22 and 23 at Hillsboro’s pool.

The classes teach swimming readiness, provide safety information, and offer parents techniques they can use to help orient children to the water.

Red Cross water safety instructor trainer Becki Yoder, who has taught swimming and water safety for 41 years, will teach the classes.

Cost is $50 per half-hour session. A parent is required to be in the water with each child. Classes are offered at 10 and 10:30 a.m. Private and group lessons are available by arrangement.

Deadline to sign up for the classes, offered through Hillsboro Recreation Commission, will be noon Monday.
