The Trojan Girls tennis Invitational was Thursday in Hillsboro. Hillsboro had one bracket champion and a third-place winner with its singles players.
No. 1 singles player Courtney Weber defeated Joy Fesen of Hutch Trinity, 8-0, and then lost to Meagan Cartwright of Circle, 8-3. Cartwright won the No. 1 singles tournament championship.
Weber defeated Kylan Viar of Chapman, 8-0 to claim third place.
Allison Weber and Bailey Kaufman both competed as No. 2 singles players. Weber defeated Vanessa Agbo of Sterling, 8-1, Rachel Sutter of Chapman, 8-2, and Caitlyn Clark of Circle, 8-2, to take the No. 2 singles title.
Kaufman lost her fist match to Nicole Farha of Wichita Collegiate, 8-0, and then fell to Erin Fleming of Wichita Independent, 8-0. She lost in the seventh place match to Agbo, 6-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Peyton Loewen and Erin Winter lost to the team from Circle, 8-5, and then lost to a team from Wichita Collegiate, 8-7. Loewen and Winter won the seventh-place match against a team from Hutch Trinity, 6-0.
The No. 2 doubles team of Claire Heyen and Katie Claassen lost to the team from Hutch Trinity, 8-0. Heyen and Claassen lost to the team from Circle, 8-1 to finish sixth.
The Trojans finished fourth out of eight teams. The Trojans next meet is Saturday, the Central Kansas League meet at Sterling.
