A ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of Butler Community College’s Hillsboro Welding Center will be noon today (Wednesday) at 405 N. Main, Hillsboro.

The first day of classes will begin after the ceremony.

The welding school is a collaborative effort between the City of Hillsboro, Hillsboro Industries, Circle D, and Butler Community College to help meet the need of welders in Marion County.

These industries are anticipating a demand of more than 100 welders in the next three years.
