Mayor Mike Sorenson informed Durham City Council that the heaters at the well house are working well at their meeting Jan. 3. The ventilation added in December was effective.
Sorenson presented information about a storm siren. After some discussion, the consensus of the council was that the siren was not needed.
The mayor asked for a volunteer to take over supervision of the town burn site. This task had been handled by the late Glennon Crowther until he became too ill for the responsibility. Tom Harmon said he would keep an eye on the burn site.
In his capacity as water supervisor, Sorenson reported that 261,600 gallons of water were pumped in December with 288,000 gallons used. The loss of 8.69 percent is down considerably from recent months.
Routine bills were approved for payment.
