Wheeler vs. Mayfield for Marion mayor
After Mayor Todd Heitschmidt declined to file for reelection, councilman John Wheeler will face former city administrator David Mayfield to replace him. Noon Monday was deadline for filing for the Nov. 5 election.
Longtime councilman Gerald Kline, newcomer Jacob Harper (who had to register as a voter before he could file), and former planning and zoning board member Ruth Herbel have filed for city council.
William Harris and Robert Gayle will vie for Florence mayor. Daniel Ludwig and Paul Reid are running against each other for ward 1 and Beverly Baldwin and Mary Shipman have both filed for ward 2 of the city council.
Centre school district has a candidate for every open position.
Jessi Brunner, Tampa, and Thieen Antoszyk have filed for position 1; Steven Jirak, Ramona, has filed for position 2; Terry Deines, Ramona, has filed for position 3; Michelle Hajek, Lost Springs, Anita Svoboda, Lincolnville, and Jessica Moenning, Lost Springs, have filed for position 7; and Lance Diepenbrock, Lincolnville, has filed.
Marion school district has four open positions. Filers include: Javan Koehn for position 1, Nick Kraus for position 2, and Jeremiah Lange for position 7. No one filed for position 3.
For county commission, David Crofoot, Amy Soyez, and Trayce Warner will be candidates for new District 4 (from the south half of Marion south and east).
Eastshore improvement district has three seats and three filers. Those who have filed are: Brad Gorsuch, Allen Albright, and Cliff Hodson.
The county lake improvement district has three positions. Thomas Neff, Wilma Iseli, and Travis White have filed. Kathy Silhan has filed for the Pilsen improvement district
