Wiens to hurdle at 2 state events

Only the top four finishers in each event at regionals proceed to the state track meet.
Goessel’s Zach Wiens is heading to state in two events. He finished third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.81) and fourth place (44.12) in the 300 hurdles.
Chase Flaming continued to improve in the shot put, throwing his season best 39 feet, 9.5 inches but won’t head to state. He took fifth place.
Josh Schmidt hit 35’ 10.5” in triple jump, but also ended the season in fifth place.
Overall, nine athletes from Goessel’s track teams qualified in 10 events for the state track meet.
State is Friday and Saturday in Wichita. Athletes must finish in the top eight spots in preliminary races in order to qualify for finals.
