Wind storm downs limbs, interrupts power

High winds downed tree limbs across Marion County and caused electricity to go out in some areas over the weekend.
Marion city administrator Brogan Jones told council members Monday that a utility pole broke and a “couple services” were out in the area of Main and Cedar Sts.
Alison Tajchman, co-owner of Taco’s Food Truck at 1018 E. Main St., said her business’s electricity was off for so long “we had to throw out a bunch of food.”
Electricity was out from midnight Saturday to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, co-owner Josh Tajchman said Tuesday.
“If I wouldn’t have went up there, it would have stayed off until who knows,” he said.
He stopped by his restaurant about 11:05 a.m. Sunday, noticed the power failure, and called an emergency number.
“They fixed everyone’s power except for our building,” Alison Tajchman told the council.
Elsewhere, Peabody firefighters investigated reports of downed tree limbs, blocked streets, a broken power pole, and an exploded electric transformer near Santa Fe Park.
In Burns, firefighters reported roof damage, a power failure, and limbs down after the area was hit by winds estimated at 80 mph.
Dispatchers sent Hillsboro firefighters to a report of a pole and a power line, which turned out to be a communication line, down in an alley near 3rd and Lincoln Sts.
