Wrestlers place 9th at Halstead

The Trojans came in ninth of 22 teams vying for mat supremacy Saturday at Halstead.

Coach Scott O’Hare said Trojans wrestlers are starting to compete with more grit and intensity.

Levi Mendoza was Hillsboro’s top finisher, placing second. He defeated the No. 2-ranked 195-pound wrestler in the semi-finals.

Mac Bartel, Travis King, Kyle Horton, and Franklin Jost placed fifth in their respective weight class.

The Trojans hit the mat next at 9 a.m. Saturday in Eureka.
