Wrestling club meeting is Tuesday
Hillsboro Wrestling Club will have a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday for parents of children interested in joining the club. The meeting will be in the technology lecture hall on the south side of Hillsboro High School.
The club will have practice at 6:30 p.m. every Monday, beginning Nov. 18. Practice will run until 7:30 for younger wrestlers and 8 p.m. for more advanced wrestlers. Competitive wrestlers will also practice from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. most Thursdays.
Coaches for the team include Scott O’Hare, Todd Helmer, Brandon Cummings, Dylan Delk, Ryan Hefley, Brian Rogers, and Bob Jones. All but Jones are certified bronze-level coaches. O’Hare has coached wrestling for 18 years; Helmer has coached for four years; and Cummings, Delk, Hefley, and Rogers have each coached for two years.
Members will have the option to compete in several weekend tournaments across the state. The 15th annual Hillsboro Takedown Tournament will be Dec. 7.
Hillsboro Wrestling Club is open to anyone between the ages of 4 and 18. The only equipment needed is a T-shirt, gym shorts, and gym or wrestling shoes.
