Hillsboro and Salem Hospital were honored Saturday with the birth of Tiffany Lynn Christensen on Feb. 29, Leap Year. She was born to Tim and Michon Christensen and has a sister Camille, 16 months.

They were seeded No. 1 and have been ranked No. 1 in District 10 all season so the Jays went head and proved everyone right Tuesday night by defeating a pesky Adams State team in the finals of the District 10 playoffs. The win propels the Jays into the NAIA Division II National Tournament.

Approximately 30 Hillsboro residents met with Kansas Sen. Gerald Karr and Kansas Rep. Duane Goossen in a town meeting sponsored by the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. Goossen and Karr both feel one of the biggest issues for this session is the issue of school financing which goes to the house this week for a full debate.

With two more victories last week, the Hillsboro High School boys' basketball team ended the season 17-3 overall and 12-2 in the Mid-Kansas League, good enough for second place behind 14-0 Moundridge. The Trojans defeated Lyons 61-38 in the first round of sub-state at Hillsboro. Hillsboro will face Hesston on Friday.

The Hillsboro High School girls' basketball team was defeated 53-50 by Minneapolis in the first round of sub-state. The Lady Trojans have an overall record of 6-13.
